Saudi authorities welcomed the flight with a "Watergate Ceremony" to celebrate the successful maiden flight of China Eastern Airlines "Shanghai Riyadh". The successful launch of this route marks the opening of a new regular direct flight with China's largest trading partner in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, as well as the largest economic agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta and the largest passenger flow hub in Shanghai.
The round-trip flight number for China Eastern Airlines' Shanghai Riyadh route is MU269/270, with three flights per week; The departing flights depart from Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 12:20 am on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, and are scheduled to arrive at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh at 17:50; The return flight departs from Riyadh at 20:50 on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, and arrives at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 11:20 the next day (all times are local time).
It is reported that with the successful launch of the Shanghai Riyadh route and the "renewal" of Shanghai Istanbul, Cairo and other routes in 2023, China Eastern Airlines will continue to promote the opening and resumption of international routes.
