According to China News Network, Wu Guanghui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chief scientist of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (hereinafter referred to as COMAC), and chief designer of the C919 large passenger aircraft series, said at the 2024 Shanghai "National Science Popularization Day" event on the 22nd that in recent times, the average passenger load factor of the C919 large passenger aircraft is 86%, which is the highest among all aircraft in the current (Chinese aviation market).
"We thank the people of the country for their support. From another perspective, this also shows that the C919 large passenger aircraft has been welcomed by everyone after it came out." Wu Guanghui said at the scene.
The C919 large passenger aircraft is China's first jet trunk passenger aircraft independently developed in accordance with international airworthiness standards and with independent intellectual property rights. It has a seating capacity of 158 to 192 seats and a range of 4075 kilometers to 5555 kilometers. The C919 large passenger aircraft will achieve the world's first delivery in December 2022 and complete its first commercial flight in May 2023. COMAC has delivered nine C919 large passenger aircraft to customers so far, covering China's three major airlines, including China Eastern Airlines, Air China and China Southern Airlines. The C919 large passenger aircraft has been safely operated for about 10,000 hours.
Wu Guanghui said that technologies such as 5G and artificial intelligence have promoted the rapid manufacturing of the C919 large passenger aircraft.
He said that China is still the world's largest aviation market. In the next 20 years, the world will need more than 40,000 aircraft, of which China will need more than 9,000.
In addition, at present, the low-altitude economy based on traditional general aviation and new drone industries is booming in China.
In Wu Guanghui's view, large aircraft and low-altitude economy can develop in a coordinated manner. On the one hand, the development of the low-altitude economy can provide a foundation and industrial ecology for large aircraft. On the other hand, the development of large aircraft can also provide opportunities and traction for the low-altitude economy.
