At 18:55 on June 12, with the smooth landing of China Express Airlines flight G52637 from Kashgar to Luntai to Yining, Bayingol Luntai Airport officially commenced its maiden voyage, becoming Xinjiang's 29th civil transport airport.
As Xinjiang's 29th civil transport airport, Bayingol Luntai Airport is a key project during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Built to 4C-level standards, it features a 2600-meter runway, a 3060-square-meter terminal building, and four aircraft stands. The airport is planned to handle 300,000 passengers and 600 tons of cargo by 2030, and plans to open routes to Urumqi, Beijing, Chengdu, and Xi'an, further improving the aviation network in southern Xinjiang and injecting new momentum into the region's high-quality development.
After its opening, Bayingol Luntai Airport will establish air links between counties, facilitating the rapid export of local specialty fruits, vegetables, and agricultural products from Xinjiang, significantly improving transportation efficiency and reducing costs. At the same time, the airport will connect cultural and tourism resources such as the Western Regions Protectorate Site and Populus euphratica forests; improve the integrated transportation network of "road, rail and air"; and help the development of oil and gas resources, the upgrading of cultural and tourism industries and rural revitalization, building an air bridge for high-quality regional development.
