On the morning of June 5th, Himalaya Airlines flight H9986 took off from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport bound for Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, officially launching Shenzhen Airport's first direct passenger route to Nepal. This route further expands Shenzhen Airport's route network to South Asia, establishing a more convenient "air corridor" for economic and trade exchanges, cultural and tourism exchanges, and personnel exchanges between Shenzhen and Nepal, providing strong support for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's deep integration into the Belt and Road Initiative.
The newly launched Shenzhen-Kathmandu route is operated by Himalaya Airlines using an Airbus A320 aircraft

The inbound flight number is H9985, which departs from Kathmandu at 21:50 local time every Tuesday and Thursday, and arrives in Shenzhen at 04:30 the following day Beijing time. The outbound flight number is H9986, which departs from Shenzhen at 05:55 Beijing time every Wednesday and Friday, and arrives in Kathmandu at 08:35 local time.

With the opening of the route, Himalaya Airlines has become a new member of Shenzhen Airport's "airline circle of friends". It was established in 2014 as a joint investment by China and Nepal, and is headquartered in Kathmandu.
Nepal, located on the southern slopes of the Himalayas, is a vital country connecting South Asia and southwestern China. Kathmandu, the capital and political, economic, and cultural center of Nepal, is also one of its most important international air gateways, boasting rich and unique natural scenery and historical sites. In 2024, China and Nepal signed a cooperation framework agreement to jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative, effectively driving practical cooperation in key areas such as economy, finance, transportation, logistics, trade, and industrial investment. Shenzhen, as one of the core engine cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, possesses a strong industrial base and vibrant openness, offering broad prospects for cooperation with Nepal in cross-border tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges. With the establishment of regular direct passenger flights between Shenzhen and Nepal, more efficient and convenient travel options are provided for business trips, family visits, and tourism between the two cities.
