The accident happened on Tuesday (18th) on an Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR1133 from Madrid, Spain to Buenos Aires, with 271 passengers and 13 crew on board.
The entire flight journey took about 12 hours, but it is understood that after the passenger plane flew for about seven hours, it suddenly encountered a bad air flow above 11,500 meters off the coast of Brazil. Aerolineas Argentinas later confirmed the accident, saying that at least 12 people were injured in the accident, three of whom had to be sent to hospital. Emirates also said the cabin ceiling was also damaged in the turbulence, but argued that passengers were warned about the draughts and asked to wear seat belts, but "most of the affected passengers didn't do that."
