According to China Construction Fourth Engineering Bureau, the T2 terminal building of the second phase expansion project of Fuzhou Changle International Airport recently passed the completion acceptance, marking a key achievement in the project's construction and a crucial step forward in the development of Fuzhou as an international aviation hub.
The second phase expansion project has a total construction area of approximately 480,000 square meters, encompassing key construction components such as the T2 terminal building and supporting integrated transportation center facilities.
The T2 terminal building, themed "A Thousand Years of Fuzhou Charm, Sailing Far Along the Silk Road," incorporates classic architectural forms from traditional houses in the Sanfang Qixiang area, such as the saddle-shaped walls, into its design. It also integrates natural elements of Fuzhou, such as banyan trees and jasmine flowers. The roof resembles ocean waves, and the skylights ripple like water. The atrium and skylights create a "treasure vase" motif, perfectly blending the culture of Fuzhou, the heritage of the Maritime Silk Road, and modern airport functions.
As a key livelihood project in Fujian Province and an important aviation gateway on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait, the expansion and upgrade of Fuzhou Changle International Airport is of profound significance. It is the core support for realizing the airport's "dual runway, dual terminal" operation and comprehensively improving passenger throughput and integrated service levels. After completion, the airport will be able to handle 36 million passengers annually, which will significantly optimize the regional air travel experience, further facilitate Fujian's external air connections, effectively enhance Fuzhou's status as an international comprehensive transportation hub, and better serve the construction of the cross-strait integrated development demonstration zone.
