On November 4, 2025, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that, according to Indian media, on November 3, Air India flight AI174, en route from San Francisco to Delhi (with a stopover in Kolkata), made a "precautionary landing" in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, after the crew discovered a potential technical problem. The flight was operated by a Boeing 777.

 

Air India later confirmed on its X platform that the flight had landed safely and all passengers and crew were unharmed. In its statement, Air India said, "The aircraft is currently undergoing necessary technical checks."

Air India also stated: "We are working closely with our partners to ensure the safety of all passengers and are making every effort to get everyone to their destinations as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this incident. Air India always prioritizes the safety of its passengers and crew."

Air India did not disclose the specific number of passengers on board.
