According to Spanish media reports, on January 15 local time, Turkish Airlines flight TK1853 (operated by an Airbus A321) from Istanbul to Barcelona
made an emergency landing at Barcelona RCMP Airport in Spain after a passenger created a Wi-Fi network containing bomb threat information.
The aircraft was carrying seven crew members and 148 passengers.
After a "threat was detected," the plane was escorted by military aircraft.
The plane eventually landed on runway 2 at El Prat Airport. Upon landing, the aircraft was "moved to a safe area."
Following the safe landing, Spanish authorities initiated standard safety procedures. Turkish Airlines confirmed that these procedures were being conducted in accordance with international aviation safety regulations.
