On June 9, WestJet announced that it had reached an agreement with the union representing WestJet and Swoop pilots. According to the agreement, WestJet Group will begin to integrate Swoop Airlines.

WestJet said that in order not to affect passengers, Swoop will continue to operate its flight network until October 28 (before the winter season), and its employees will be transferred to WestJet.

Swoop Aviation began operations in June 2018 and is headquartered in Calgary. The company has 16 Boeing 737 aircraft, including 737-800 and 737MAX, and mainly operates point-to-point routes between North America and the Caribbean.

In early May of this year, WestJet announced the completion of the acquisition of low-cost airline Sunwing (Sunwing). The deal enables WestJet to add 18 Boeing 737s, about 2,000 employees and expand its vacation travel operations.
