Singapore Changi Airport's Terminal 3 will undergo a major renovation by the end of 2026.
The terminal's baggage storage capacity will be increased by 65% to meet the growing demand for advance check-in and the airport's increasing transit passenger volume.
Terrain 3 will also add shuttle bus lounges, increasing from three to seven to handle more flights during peak periods. These shuttle bus lounges will serve aircraft parked at remote stands.
The Skytrain fleet connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3 will be expanded by nearly 30%.
In addition, a new inter-terminal baggage system will be built to provide a second transit corridor between Terminals 1 and 3. This will alleviate pressure on the existing baggage system.
Changi Airport will also upgrade its aircraft parking positions. By the second quarter of 2026, more than 50 of Changi Airport's 180+ aircraft parking positions will be able to support the newer, longer Boeing 777-9 aircraft.
Meanwhile, Changi Airport will launch a new "off-airport" check-in service, allowing passengers to check in and drop off their luggage at designated downtown hotels.
Changi Airport did not specify the estimated construction period or specific costs for the T3 renovation.
Changi Airport's Terminal 5 is expected to open in the mid-2030s. The automated systems and operational processes introduced during the T3 renovation will provide valuable experience for the intelligent operation of T5.
