Recently, the 30 MW distributed photovoltaic project at Jiangbei International Airport, the largest single-phase distributed photovoltaic project in China's airports, was officially connected to the grid and began generating electricity. It is expected to generate 24 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by 20,000 tons. This serves as a vivid example of Jiangbei International Airport's commitment to green airport development, its comprehensive green and low-carbon transformation, its contribution to the construction of a beautiful Chongqing, and its efforts to cultivate a green foundation for high-quality development.

"The power generated by this project can be absorbed by the airport itself, effectively saving electricity costs. During the period of abundant sunshine from June to September, it is expected to provide approximately 10 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity, accounting for 12% of the airport's electricity consumption during the same period," said a relevant person in charge of Jiangbei International Airport. "This will effectively alleviate the regional power supply pressure and support the airport's power supply needs during the peak summer season."

It is reported that the project has a total investment of approximately 120 million yuan and was introduced by Chongqing Airport to invest in and construct the project with the help of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN). The project makes full use of 19 vacant areas, including the airport runway slope protection and the roofs of large buildings, covering an area of approximately 280,000 square meters. It will install more than 50,000 photovoltaic panels, construct 19 power stations, and connect 29 grid points, with the power generation network covering the main functional areas of Jiangbei International Airport.

During construction, the project team focused on overcoming the challenge of adapting to irregular slopes. Leveraging massive amounts of mountain photovoltaic data, they improved the stability of the photovoltaic array under extreme weather conditions by adding wind-resistant cables and other measures. Considering Chongqing's climate characteristics, including high temperature and humidity and short annual sunshine hours, they developed self-cleaning, anti-reflective photovoltaic modules to enhance power generation efficiency. Simultaneously, they scientifically adjusted the tilt angle and orientation of the photovoltaic array to reduce the reflectivity of the photovoltaic panels to below 2%, meeting civil aviation anti-glare safety standards.
It is understood that Jiangbei International Airport will further deepen the integrated construction of "source, load, grid, and storage", continuously increase the proportion of clean energy, build a multi-energy complementary clean energy supply system, accelerate the construction of a green airport and a "dual-carbon airport", and contribute to the sustainable development of Chongqing International Aviation Hub.
