On November 30, 2025, at 14:16, China Eastern Airlines flight MU2051 took off from Beijing Daxing International Airport, bound for Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. As the inaugural flight of China Eastern's "Beijing Daxing-Muscat" route, the flight carried 270 passengers, achieving a load factor exceeding 90%.
It is understood that this new route is the first direct flight operated by a Chinese airline between the two cities. The opening of this new route will not only provide Chinese passengers with new travel options to and from Oman, but will also further strengthen the regional air network and promote personnel and trade exchanges between China and Middle Eastern countries. Based on a comprehensive assessment of market and route conditions, China Eastern Airlines has selected the Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft to operate the route, with one flight each on Wednesdays and Sundays. Outbound flight MU2051 departs from Beijing Daxing International Airport at 14:00 Beijing time and arrives at Muscat International Airport at 19:55 local time; the return flight MU2052 departs from Muscat at 21:55 and returns to Beijing at 10:00 the following day. The journey time for each leg is approximately 9-10 hours. (Please refer to official China Eastern Airlines channels for specific flight schedules.)

China and the Sultanate of Oman have a long history of friendly exchanges, and in recent years, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has developed smoothly, while cultural exchanges have become increasingly active. In May 2025, China announced a pilot visa-free policy for Oman, further promoting two-way exchanges. Before the new air route opened, travelers between China and Oman typically had to transit through cities such as Dubai, Doha, and Istanbul, with a one-way journey taking nearly 24 hours. After the direct flight opens, travel efficiency will be greatly improved, with the flight time shortened to less than 10 hours, and convenient transit through Beijing Daxing and Muscat airports to surrounding destinations in East Asia and the Middle East.
