On November 28th, Xinjiang Airport Group achieved a historic milestone – its annual passenger throughput exceeded 50 million for the first time, setting a new record.
Currently, Xinjiang has 28 operational transport airports, ranking first in the country. The coverage rate of transport airports within a 100-kilometer radius of county-level administrative regions has reached 87%, essentially achieving "air access to every county and universal access to services." On April 17th of this year, Urumqi Tianshan International Airport successfully transitioned to operation. Taking this opportunity, Xinjiang Airport Group has significantly enhanced Urumqi's capacity as an international passenger and cargo hub through refined flight management, optimized transfer processes, and upgraded service experiences.
Today, Urumqi Tianshan International Airport has direct flights to 84 domestic cities, achieving full coverage of all provincial capitals in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan); it operates 28 international passenger routes, reaching 24 cities in 19 countries, including 11 destinations in Central Asia, ranking first in the country. The cargo sector also performed exceptionally well, with 36 international cargo routes opened, connecting 22 countries. International cargo and mail throughput reached 106,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 231.7%, and more than 10 times that of 2019, laying a solid foundation for air logistics support for Xinjiang's export-oriented economic development.
