On December 7, 2025, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that at 16:55 Beijing time, Hainan Airlines flight HU497, operated by the new HNA Aviation Group, successfully took off from Qionghai Bo'ao International Airport, marking the official opening of the Hainan Airlines Qionghai-Kuala Lumpur international route. The opening of this route will further enhance friendly exchanges between China and Malaysia, create more opportunities for economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges, and promote cooperation between the two sides in multiple fields.

The Hainan Airlines Qionghai-Kuala Lumpur international route plans to operate two round-trip flights per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. The outbound flight is scheduled to depart from Qionghai Bo'ao International Airport at 16:40 Beijing time and arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 20:10 local time, with a flight time of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The return flight is scheduled to depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12:15 local time and arrive at Qionghai Bo'ao International Airport at 15:25 Beijing time, with a flight time of approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes. Passengers can purchase tickets through Hainan Airlines' official website, app, WeChat official account and mini-program, service hotline 95339, directly affiliated ticket offices, and authorized agents. Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is the country's political, economic, financial, industrial, commercial, and cultural center. Currently, Hainan Airlines has launched numerous international and regional routes departing from Haikou, establishing a route network radiating across the Americas, Europe, Oceania, and Asia. Furthermore, since February 9, 2024, China has implemented a visa-free policy for citizens of 59 countries, allowing entry into Hainan for purposes such as tourism, trade, visits, family visits, medical treatment, exhibitions, and sports competitions, with a stay not exceeding 30 days. Hainan Airlines boasts a comprehensive domestic route network in Haikou, covering major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Urumqi, facilitating transfers from all over China to international flights. In the future, Hainan Airlines will continue to strengthen its Haikou hub, injecting new momentum into the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port through a continuously improving route network and high-quality services.


With the imminent imminent full-island customs closure of the Hainan Free Trade Port on December 18, 2025, Hainan Airlines will seize the opportunity presented by this event and take concrete actions to respond to General Secretary Xi Jinping's call on April 13, 2018, to "increase the number of direct international routes from Hainan to major global source markets."
