Civil Aviation Resource Network September 7, 2022: According to ABCnews, the German government plans to remove the mandatory requirement for passengers to wear masks on flights to and from Germany.
Germany's Free Democratic Party has proposed to end the mandatory wearing of masks on flights, otherwise these rules will continue until September 23.
German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said it was still "sensible and necessary" to wear masks on trains and buses, but that "air circulation is better on planes". "The mask requirement on international flights has been eased. Lufthansa has said many times that this rule cannot continue, so we have exercised restraint and limited this requirement to domestic flights only."
But he still said that if the number of new crown cases increases sharply this fall, the German government may issue a law to re-specify the requirements for masks on planes.
