Civil Aviation Resources Network, July 16, 2025: According to Reuters, Willie Walsh, director general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), said on Wednesday (July 16) that airlines may be reluctant to accept aircraft deliveries due to continued uncertainty about US tariffs and their impact on aircraft costs.
"This is not just a Boeing and Airbus problem. It will affect all aspects of the aerospace industry and have an impact on most, if not all, airlines," he said.
Walsh made the above remarks at a media roundtable in Singapore.
Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto warned on Tuesday that US President Trump's plan to impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian exports from August could hit the company's revenue as hard as the COVID-19 epidemic and pose risks to Embraer's US partners.
Gomez Neto told reporters that the tariffs would amount to a trade embargo on the company's regional jets to U.S. airlines, which could lead to order cancellations, delivery delays and severe consequences for Embraer's suppliers in the United States.
