On August 7, at the ICAO Asia-Pacific Environment Conference held in Bangkok, Japan and Singapore released their sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) targets.

By 2030, the proportion of SAF in the fuel consumption of Japanese airlines will reach 10%. Japan will promote the production of local SAF and establish a SAF supply chain, including imported SAF.

Singapore has proposed that all flights departing from Singapore will use SAF from 2026, with the goal of using more than 1% of SAF in 2026 and 3%-5% by 2030. Singapore encourages investment in SAF production and creates an ecosystem to achieve a more resilient and affordable supply.
