According to Sputnik News Agency, Dmitry Yadrov, head of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, stated that the MS-21 passenger aircraft (MC-21) is a key project for the Russian aviation industry and will eventually replace the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.
Yadrov stated within the framework of the Ministry of Transport's year-end review committee: "The MS-21 medium-range mainline passenger aircraft is a crucial project for all of us because it will eventually replace the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320-this is the MS-21-310 aircraft."
The MS-21 is a medium-range mainline narrow-body passenger aircraft developed by Yakovlev Company (a subsidiary of the United Aircraft Corporation under Rostec). It can carry 163 to 211 passengers. Certification of the aircraft is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
