On January 15, 2026, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that Shandong Airlines held a press conference at Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport to announce the launch of its international routes, namely Jinan-Hanoi, Jinan-Ho Chi Minh City, Jinan-Kuala Lumpur, Qingdao-Ho Chi Minh City, and Qingdao-Hanoi.
At the press conference, representatives from provincial transportation, commerce, and culture and tourism departments, civil aviation regulatory and air traffic control units, joint inspection agencies at various ports, Shandong Airport Management Group, Jinan International Airport, and Air China-affiliated airlines gathered to witness the launch of the new route. As a representative of the joint inspection units, Jinan Border Inspection Station made advance arrangements, comprehensively maintained inspection facilities, added "fast track" and "visa-free processing" signage, and provided multilingual customs clearance guidance services to ensure efficient and smooth passenger clearance, providing strong support for the successful launch of Shandong Airlines' Southeast Asia route. Zhu Songyan, Chairman and Party Secretary of Shandong Airlines Group, stated in his speech that the successful launch of the new route is inseparable from the strong support and efficient collaboration of government departments at all levels, civil aviation authorities, joint inspection units, and partners, vividly demonstrating a new atmosphere of government-enterprise collaboration and joint promotion of openness.
In his speech, Zhu Songyan emphasized that Shandong Airlines has always deeply integrated its own development into national strategies and the overall development of the region. The launch of this Southeast Asia route is a proactive measure to serve the "Belt and Road" initiative and promote Shandong's high-level opening-up. The new route not only actively responds to the growing demand for economic and trade exchanges and cultural exchanges between Shandong and Southeast Asia, but also represents a key move by Shandong Airlines in its efforts to transform from a "market share leader" to a "value creation leader" in the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Leveraging the network advantages of its Jinan and Qingdao bases, the newly opened Southeast Asian route will efficiently connect with Shandong Airlines' extensive domestic routes and Air China's global network, significantly enhancing Shandong Airlines' "two-way transit" capabilities between domestic and international markets and providing solid aviation support for the new "dual circulation" development pattern.
Shandong has a long history of exchanges with Vietnam and Malaysia, connected since ancient times by the Maritime Silk Road. Today, with the continuous deepening of economic and trade cooperation between Shandong and ASEAN, the scope of cooperation is expanding from traditional trade to emerging sectors such as cross-border e-commerce, green energy, and intelligent manufacturing. More and more Shandong enterprises are accelerating their production capacity and R&D layout in Southeast Asia, leading to a significant increase in cross-border personnel exchanges and air logistics demand. Shandong Airlines' opening of this Southeast Asian route is precisely a way to "go global" with its "capacity going global," helping Shandong deeply integrate into the global industrial and supply chains.
The launch of this new Southeast Asian route significantly expands Shandong Airlines' route network coverage and reach. Moving forward, Shandong Airlines will continue to deepen its presence in Shandong, consolidating its advantages in the Northeast Asian market while actively exploring emerging markets in Southeast Asia. The "Wings of Qilu" will carry the reputation of "Hospitable Shandong" across mountains and seas, connecting the world.
