According to the Civil Aviation Resources Network on December 29, 2024: At about 9:07 am local time on December 29, a Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand to Muan deviated from the runway and hit the outer wall of the fence when landing at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province, and then the passenger plane caught fire. The Jeolla Province Fire Department in South Korea said that except for the two rescued people, it is expected that all other people in the accident were killed. The Chinese Consulate General in Gwangju, South Korea confirmed that no Chinese citizens were injured or killed in the accident.

According to CCTV News, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea held a press conference on the afternoon of the 29th. At around 8:57 local time, the control tower of Muan International Airport issued a warning that Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 collided with a flock of birds. Then at around 8:58, the captain of Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 issued an emergency distress signal of Mayday. Then at around 9 o'clock, the plane tried to land on the runway; then at around 9:03, the plane landed on the fuselage without opening the landing gear, and finally hit the airport fence and exploded and caught fire. The accident investigation committee has currently recovered the two "black boxes" of the aircraft, that is, two flight recorders, and plans to further release relevant information after analyzing the flight recorders.
