On January 9, 2026, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that an Air Astana passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Beijing Capital International Airport due to a technical malfunction, according to Kazinform.

The aircraft, flight number KC210, was operating a flight from Seoul to Astana on January 8, 2026.

Air Astana stated that the crew decided to make an emergency landing in Beijing, the Chinese capital, because all onboard lavatory facilities malfunctioned and became unusable during the flight.

Air Astana indicated that the flight departed Seoul at 09:25 local time and landed in Beijing at 11:50. Maintenance personnel are currently awaiting the arrival of necessary spare parts to troubleshoot the problem. As a result, the flight's departure time has been delayed until 01:00 local time.

For most passengers who do not require Chinese visas, Air Astana has arranged for them to stay in local hotels. The remaining passengers remained in the airport terminal's transit area, where Air Astana provided them with ample food and beverage options and warm blankets.

Air Astana has formally apologized to all passengers for this unexpected malfunction and the resulting travel inconvenience.
