Civil Aviation Resources Network reported on May 12, 2025: On May 11, Pudong Airport fully launched 24-hour domestic departure security service in Terminals 1 and 2 to better serve transit passengers and passengers on late-night flights.
Since the beginning of this year, the passenger flow of Shanghai Airport has continued to increase. During the "May Day" holiday, Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao Airports handled a total of 1.937 million inbound and outbound passengers, with an average of 387,000 passengers per day, a year-on-year increase of 14.1%. Among them, the average number of inbound and outbound passengers was 114,000 per day, a year-on-year increase of 24%. In order to facilitate passengers who transfer and take flights late at night to enter the waiting area as early as possible and enjoy a more convenient and complete waiting and business environment, Pudong Airport further optimized the security inspection working hours to better match the flight schedule. On the eve of the "May Day" holiday, a 24-hour security inspection service for domestic departures was trial-run in Terminal 1. Adopting the "same-day flight, same-day inspection" model, passengers who arrive in Shanghai for transfer or take domestic flights in the early morning can pass the security inspection and enter the waiting area at any time after completing check-in and baggage check-in.
After the launch of this service, it has been widely praised by passengers. Based on passenger feedback, the airport expanded the service to Terminal 2 on May 11 and dynamically adjusted the number of security inspection channels according to daily passenger flow. Pudong Airport is also continuously optimizing the terminal's commercial catering and supporting service facilities to provide passengers with a more warm and convenient travel experience.
