Civil Aviation Resource Network July 12, 2022: According to a Reuters report on July 8, Turkey's Civil Aviation Authority is tightening policies on Turkish pilots who resign to work abroad for foreign airlines.
Turkish authorities have said that for pilots wanting to work for foreign airlines, consent from their previous employers is required. If pilots resign without consent, their application for verification will not be processed by authorities for six months.
The Turkish Hava-Is union said there was a huge demand for Turkish pilots from Gulf and North American air operators. Hava-Is also said the new rules are an interference with the labor freedom and individual rights of pilots, and it will meet with the Department of Transportation and civil aviation officials to discuss compliance with the policies.
According to the Turkish Aviation Authority, Turkey currently has 10,525 pilots.
