United Airlines said in a statement that it had suspended flights at several airports. "Additional flight delays are expected this evening, and we are actively addressing the issue. Passenger safety is always our top priority, and we will do our best to help passengers reach their destinations safely."
According to the latest news, United Airlines stated that its systems are gradually returning to normal operation, but flight delays will continue Wednesday evening. As of press time, 827 flights have been delayed and 23 have been canceled. In a statement to ABC News, United Airlines confirmed that the incident was not caused by a cyberattack.
In addition, United Airlines stated that the ground suspension order does not affect flights of its United Express subsidiary, and all departing flights will continue to their scheduled destinations.
Several notices issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) indicate that United Airlines has requested ground suspension measures at its major hub airports, including Newark, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, and Houston.
