According to foreign media reports, US President Biden recently appointed Michael G. Whitaker as the new Administrator of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Whitaker served as FAA Deputy Administrator from 2013 to 2016. During his tenure, he worked with the industry and the government to successfully convert the U.S. air traffic control system from radar to satellite surveillance technology (ABS-B).

Whittaker currently serves as chief commercial officer at Supernal, a company owned by Hyundai Motor that develops flying cars.

Since 2022, the position of FAA Administrator has been acting and has not been officially appointed. In March this year, the US President's nomination for FAA Administrator gave up due to opposition from Republican lawmakers.
