Civil Aviation Resources Network, May 27, 2024: According to Reuters, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) stated that 2.95 million air passengers passed through airport security checks on May 24 alone, setting a record for the number of people checked in a single day in history.
American Airlines expects record passenger numbers this summer. Industry organizations estimate that 271 million passengers will travel by air between June 1 and August 31, an increase of 6.3% over last year.
The American Airlines Association said that U.S. airlines plan to fly more than 26,000 flights per day this summer, an increase of nearly 1,400 flights, or 5.6%, from 2023, when U.S. airlines transported 255 million passengers.
American Airlines said it will increase flights by 10% this summer and expects passenger traffic to increase by 10% during the holiday travel period from May 23 to May 28.
