On April 17, 2026, according to foreign media reports, an Austrian Airlines Embraer E195 (registration number OE-LWL), operating flight OS-106 from Innsbruck to Vienna, was forced to abort takeoff due to a bee blocking its pitot tube probe.

The flight carried 102 passengers and 5 crew members. The aircraft was accelerating on runway 08 at Innsbruck Airport.

When the speed reached approximately 80 knots, the crew noticed an inconsistency in the airspeed data. To ensure flight safety, the crew immediately decided to abort takeoff. The aircraft then safely decelerated and taxied back to its parking position.

Austrian Airlines later confirmed that the inconsistency in airspeed data was caused by a bee blocking the pitot tube probe on the left side of the aircraft.

Passengers on board also stated that the crew had informed them that a bee might be blocking the pitot tube.

To minimize disruption to passengers' travel plans, the 102 affected passengers were rebooked on a later flight, OS-108. The plane eventually arrived in Vienna about 4.5 hours later than originally planned.
