November 14, 2025, Civil Aviation Resource Network: Air China Cargo Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Air China Cargo") signed a firm order with Airbus for six Airbus A350F freighters. This makes Air China Cargo the first customer in mainland China to order brand-new Airbus A350F freighters.
Wang Hongyan, Vice President of Air China Cargo, stated, "The Airbus A350F freighter offers significantly improved fuel efficiency. We hope that through the introduction of the A350F and efficient operation and maintenance management, we can enhance Air China Cargo's long-term resilience and ability to withstand risks in its stable operations."
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said, "We are delighted and welcome Air China Cargo as its newest customer for the Airbus A350F freighter. The A350F will bring greater efficiency and performance, while providing stronger carrying capacity and loading flexibility. We look forward to its smooth integration into Air China Cargo's fleet operations."
Air China Cargo is the only cargo airline in China that carries the national flag, and its headquarters are located in Beijing. As of June 2025, Air China Cargo has deployed all-cargo aircraft in North China, East China, South China, and Southwest China, operating 25 direct all-cargo routes to major regions and cities worldwide, including Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. These include 23 international routes and 2 domestic routes, covering 23 cities in 14 countries. Air China Cargo also operates over 1,500 ground truck routes in Europe, North America, Australia, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region, effectively supplementing its cargo and passenger aircraft belly cargo network, enabling rapid delivery of goods globally.
The Airbus A350F freighter is a representative of advanced global freighters, designed to meet the ever-changing demands of the global air cargo market (such as express delivery, general cargo, and special cargo). Currently under development, the Airbus A350F freighter has a payload capacity of up to 111 tons and a range of up to 4,700 nautical miles (8,700 kilometers). The Airbus A350F freighter is equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, which reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 40% compared to its predecessor. Constructed with over 70% advanced materials, the A350F is 46 tons lighter than its competitors and features a larger main cargo door. It is also the only freighter fully compliant with the ICAO's CO2 emission standards, which will take effect in 2027. Upon entering service, it will be capable of using 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a plan to achieve 100% sustainable aviation fuel by 2030.
As of October 2025, the Airbus A350 family of aircraft has received 1,445 orders from 63 customers worldwide, including 74 new A350F freighters from 12 customers.
