Civil Aviation Resources Network, March 03, 2025: According to foreign media reports, American Airlines is testing free WiFi services on three domestic routes in the United States: Charlotte-Raleigh, Charlotte-Jacksonville, and Miami-Chicago.
According to an internal memo, American Airlines will evaluate passenger demand, technical feasibility, and whether the service improves satisfaction with the in-flight experience during the test.
A spokesperson for American Airlines told The Points Guy: "For today's passengers, staying connected in the air is critical. Through this limited-time free WiFi test, we are exploring opportunities to strengthen our high-speed WiFi products to remain competitive in the industry and provide passengers with what they want."
It is currently unclear whether American Airlines will expand free WiFi to the rest of the airline's route network.
