On November 9, 2025, at 13:02, China Eastern Airlines flight MU563, carrying 248 passengers, departed from Shanghai Pudong International Airport for Delhi, India, marking the official resumption of China Eastern's "China-India route" after a five-year hiatus. China Eastern also became the first domestic airline to resume passenger flights between China and India in 2025. The inaugural flight achieved a load factor exceeding 95%.

It is reported that the newly resumed China Eastern Airlines Shanghai Pudong-Delhi route will be operated by an Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, with three flights per week, on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The outbound flight number is MU563, departing from Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 12:50 and arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi at 17:45 local time. The return flight number is MU564, departing from India at 19:55 local time and arriving at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 04:10 the following day, with a total flight time of approximately 8 hours. This route connects Shanghai, China, and Delhi, India, and is one of the most strategically important air corridors between the two countries. As important economic centers of both countries, the close connection between Shanghai and Delhi will help promote comprehensive exchanges in trade, culture, and other fields, injecting new impetus into the realization of "dragon and elephant dancing together." In the future, China Eastern Airlines will increase the frequency of flights as needed based on market feedback, and also plans to resume the Kunming-Kolkata route and launch a new Shanghai Pudong-Mumbai route, further expanding the route network between China and India.
