China Southern Airlines officially launches Guangzhou-Budapest route

On the evening of June 26, China Southern Airlines successfully held the inaugural flight ceremony from Guangzhou to Budapest at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, marking the official opening of the first direct flight from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to Hungary. After the opening of this route, China Southern Airlines will have 53 international routes originating from Guangzhou, 11 international routes originating from Guangzhou to Europe, and 19 routes from domestic flights to Europe.
For this inaugural flight, China Southern Airlines prepared a wonderful inaugural ceremony at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and Budapest Airport. On the evening of the 26th, representatives and guests from various parties including the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Hungarian Consulate General in Guangzhou attended the event to witness and celebrate the inaugural flight of the route.
Han Wensheng, general manager of China Southern Airlines Group, said in his speech at the inaugural ceremony that China and Hungary issued a "Joint Statement" in May this year. China Southern Airlines actively responded to the "Joint Statement", attached great importance to the Central and Eastern European market, and made every effort to prepare for the opening of the Guangzhou-Budapest route. The arrival time of the Guangzhou-Budapest route can meet the travel needs of transiting to Europe via Budapest, and the return arrival time can effectively connect flights from Guangzhou to many domestic cities. The opening of this route will effectively promote economic and trade exchanges, tourism cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two sides.
Hungary is located in the geographical center of Europe and has a profound cultural heritage. It is the first European country to join the "Belt and Road" initiative. In recent years, the economic and trade relations between the two countries have flourished, and pragmatic cooperation has yielded fruitful results. China has become Hungary's largest trading partner outside Europe and Hungary's most important partner in the field of investment. Budapest is the largest city in Hungary and the country's political, economic and cultural center. The opening of the direct flight from Guangzhou to Budapest by China Southern Airlines is of great significance to promoting mutual communication between China and Hungary.
It is reported that China Southern Airlines will use Boeing 787-9 aircraft to operate this route, with four flights per week, namely Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The specific flight schedule is: depart from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 00:55 Beijing time on the outbound trip and arrive at Budapest Airport at 07:20 local time; depart at 13:00 local time on the return trip and arrive in Guangzhou at 05:55 the next day Beijing time. The flight time is about 12 hours.
To ensure the smooth completion of the maiden flight, the B787 fleet of China Southern Airlines Flight Corps made careful preparations. Based on the characteristics of the new route, four party members were selected to perform the maiden flight in combination with political literacy, professional skills and flying style, and a number of technical backbones were organized to make full preparations for the multiple operational requirements covered by the route.

I feel extremely proud and proud." Ji Ye, the captain of China Southern Airlines who performed this maiden flight, said.
Before the flight took off, China Southern Airlines opened several check-in counters at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, added guidance posts, flight displays, signboards and other guidance, and provided passengers with document consultation, check-in, baggage check-in and other service guidance in a timely manner, guiding passengers to quickly check in and pass customs. On the inaugural flight, the China Southern Airlines crew will carefully decorate the cabin of the aircraft, create a warm and festive atmosphere with traditional Chinese aesthetics, and provide passengers with special delicacies that blend Chinese and Western food cultures, such as Cantonese-style preserved meat claypot rice, braised beef tenderloin, and lychee jelly desserts. When the plane flies to an altitude of 10,000 meters, the crew will also celebrate the opening of the route with the inaugural passengers through interactive activities such as sign language dance and prize quizzes.

China Southern Airlines will provide one night of free hotel accommodation (including breakfast and free pick-up and drop-off service from the hotel to the terminal) when transferring at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for passengers who meet the flight transfer time and cabin requirements.
