On the afternoon of October 29, China Southern Airlines Group (CSN Group) hosted a special event for the consular corps based in Guangzhou, focusing on the airline's aircraft maintenance operations. The event brought together 44 officials from 29 consulates-general in Guangzhou-representing sectors such as economics, commerce, science and technology, and trade-to gain a firsthand look at CSN's technical capabilities and industrial strength in aircraft maintenance through discussions and site visits.
The event was designed to enhance information exchange within the international civil aviation industry, facilitate the alignment of supply and demand for aviation maintenance services, support the expansion of such services into global markets, and foster mutually beneficial, collaborative development between China's aviation sector and its international counterparts. Attendees included Zhang Yong, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of CSN Group, as well as executives from the airline's Engineering and Technology Branch and Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company (GAMECO).

This event serves as a key initiative for China Southern Airlines Group (CSN Group) to deepen international exchange and cooperation, aligned with its "2+5+X" industrial layout. Focusing on aircraft maintenance services and product promotion, the event showcases the group's achievements in building a modern industrial system and its robust international operational capabilities. It aims to provide the consular corps based in Guangzhou with a firsthand understanding of CSN Group's technical prowess, while leveraging the resources and channels of the consulates to enhance international outreach, expand brand influence, and facilitate the implementation of collaborative projects, such as those in aircraft maintenance.
In his address, Zhang Yong, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of CSN Group, noted that the group ranks first in Asia-and among the top globally-in terms of fleet size and passenger volume. In 2025, the group handled 174 million passengers and 1.958 million tons of cargo and mail. As of the end of September this year, CSN Group operated a fleet of 1,011 aircraft-comprising passenger planes, freighters, and helicopters-across 1,235 routes. Every day, approximately 3,000 flights connect the group to over 200 destinations across more than 40 countries and regions worldwide. Zhang emphasized that CSN Group views this event as a starting point to extend an invitation to airlines, airports, and civil aviation enterprises globally to explore mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the discussion, the Engineering and Technical Branch of China Southern Airlines presented its comprehensive, one-stop maintenance support capabilities, which cover the entire lifecycle of an aircraft. Leveraging its long-standing safety standards, technical expertise, extensive maintenance experience, and independent innovations, the branch ensures the safe departure of hundreds of thousands of flights annually, maintaining an industry-leading dispatch reliability rate. Currently, the branch's business portfolio spans line maintenance, airframe, engine, auxiliary power unit (APU) and component maintenance, composite material repairs, aviation materials support, and technical training. It holds airworthiness certifications from over 30 countries and regions, including those in Europe and North America. Furthermore, it has developed "Tian Tong" (Sky Eye)-the world's first system capable of supporting multiple mainstream aircraft types-as it continues to steadily expand its industrial scale. While ensuring the stable operation of China Southern Airlines' fleet, the company has expanded its maintenance business globally, serving over 100 domestic and international aviation clients. Moving forward, the company remains committed to providing world-class, high-quality aviation maintenance services to its global clientele. During the on-site discussions, participants engaged in dialogues covering topics such as maintenance product support, fleet scale, and industry development-sharing the latest industry trends and fostering mutual understanding and trust.

During the event, the guests traveled to the hangar of Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company (GAMECO) to observe the use of smart jacks and the execution of in-depth aircraft overhauls. This provided an immersive look at the cutting-edge technological capabilities and standardized management practices employed in high-end aviation maintenance. Several economic and commercial officials engaged in in-depth discussions with the China Southern Airlines (CSAir) team regarding the specifics of potential business collaboration, expressing a keen interest in promoting the airline's maintenance services within their respective national civil aviation markets.
