Civil Aviation Resource Net, September 16, 2026: The first aircraft to undergo final assembly on the second A320 Family final assembly line at Airbus Tianjin has been successfully delivered. This A320neo aircraft was accepted and put into operation by China Eastern Airlines. The delivery marks a new stage of development for Airbus's industrial footprint in China and across the globe.

"The second Tianjin assembly line is crucial to achieving our goal of increasing global production of the A320 family to 75 aircraft per month; it also provides valuable flexibility and robust production capacity, enabling us to actively meet strong market demand."
Since the Airbus Tianjin A320 Family Final Assembly Line began operations in 2008, it has completed the final assembly and delivery of over 800 A320 Family aircraft. The addition of a second final assembly line enables Airbus to significantly boost production capacity, thereby better serving customers in China and around the world. According to Airbus's latest global aviation market forecast, China will require 8,830 new passenger aircraft over the next twenty years-representing more than 20% of the total global demand for 42,060 new passenger aircraft during the same period. This second final assembly line in Tianjin also injects strong momentum into the global production network for the Airbus A320 Family, which currently comprises ten final assembly lines: four in Hamburg (Germany), two in Toulouse (France), two in Mobile (USA), and two in Tianjin (China).
Headquartered in Shanghai, China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited is one of China's three major state-owned backbone airlines. The airline took delivery of China's first Airbus aircraft in 1985, marking the beginning of a friendly partnership spanning more than 40 years. As of the end of August 2026, China Eastern operates the largest Airbus fleet in mainland China, comprising 393 A320 family aircraft, 56 A330 family aircraft, and 20 A350-900 aircraft.
