At 05:00 on September 16, Terminal 2 (T2) at Fuzhou Changle International Airport officially commenced operations. With the successful departure of the inaugural outbound flight, MF8487, from the new terminal, Fuzhou Airport has officially entered a new era of development characterized by a "dual-terminal, dual-runway" configuration.
"Dual-Terminal, Dual-Runway"
A coordinated operational framework is now fully established.
In June of this year, the second runway commenced operations, making Fuzhou Airport the first 4F-class airport in Fujian Province and the 17th nationwide. With the subsequent opening of Terminal 2, the airport now operates with fully coordinated dual runways and dual terminals, marking a significant overall upgrade in its operational capacity and service standards.
Zoned flight operations were launched concurrently.
Effective 05:00 on September 16, Fuzhou Airport officially implemented a zoned flight operation system.
Terminal 2 (T2) Operations:
Domestic flights operated by Xiamen Airlines, Hebei Airlines, and Jiangxi Airlines, as well as all international, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan flights.
Terminal 1 (T1) Operations:
Domestic flights operated by airlines other than the three mentioned above; Terminal 1 no longer handles international, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan flights.
The "Mindu Reception Hall" Officially Unveiled
With the core concept of "Enduring Blessings and Sails on the Silk Road," Terminal 2 integrates cultural symbols of the Mindu region into its architectural fabric. The ceiling of the departure hall features a "J-shaped" saddle-back wall design characteristic of Fuzhou's traditional houses, while the surrounding colored-glaze glass-set against the warm hues of the Fuzhou mandarin orange and accented with jasmine motifs-reflects the city's identity as a "Land of Blessings."
Serving as a showcase for the city's image, Terminal 2 excels in both cultural presentation and the travel experience. It hosts the province's first airport branch of the Fujian Museum and features a curated collection of Intangible Cultural Heritage items-such as Shoushan stone carvings, Dehua white porcelain, and cork pictures-alongside renowned heritage brands like Antailou and Yonghe Fish Balls. Comprehensive smart systems have been implemented across every stage of the journey-including check-in, security screening, baggage handling, facilities for mothers and infants, and customs clearance-allowing travelers to experience the city's genuine hospitality through a seamless and efficient travel process.
With the transition from a single runway to two runways and from one terminal to two, Fuzhou Airport has achieved a comprehensive upgrade in its operational layout, support capabilities, and service standards. As a gateway hub in the core area of the Maritime Silk Road, the airport is accelerating its development into a massive regional hub serving international routes, the Maritime Silk Road, and cross-strait connections; the full-scale launch of these new facilities provides the critical infrastructure to support this strategic positioning.
Standing at this new starting point, Fuzhou Airport will continue to leverage the synergistic effects of its dual-terminal and dual-runway operations. It will optimize its route network, enhance domestic and international connectivity, and better support the development of the Fuzhou metropolitan area and cross-strait integration, thereby injecting powerful aviation-driven momentum into Fujian's high-level opening-up and the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
