According to Taiwanese media reports, a knife-wielding hostage incident occurred at Terminal 1 of Taoyuan International Airport on the afternoon of September 12. A man broke into a ground crew office area and held an airline intern at knifepoint, creating a tense situation at the scene.
Police responded quickly to the report, rescued the hostage, and subdued and arrested the man on the spot. Reports indicate that police used pepper spray during the operation.
The hostage sustained a hand injury during the incident and has been taken to the hospital for treatment; their injuries are not life-threatening.

The incident took place in an airline staff break room or ground crew office area; the person held hostage was not a flight attendant but a ground crew intern. The airline has expressed deep concern for employee safety and stated that it will provide necessary assistance to the affected staff member and fully cooperate with the police investigation.
