On January 22, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport's Terminal 3 welcomed its second batch of airlines moving in. All international (regional) flights previously operating from Terminal 1, as well as domestic flights operated by Spring Airlines, were transferred to Terminal 3, marking the full commencement of international operations at Terminal 3.

This concentrated transfer of airlines is another major operational adjustment for Baiyun Airport following the opening of Terminal 3 on October 30, 2025. It adopts a "phased, orderly, and seamless" implementation strategy. Starting at 11:30 AM on January 22, all 30 international (regional) airlines operating from Terminal 1, as well as international (regional) flights from China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, and Spring Airlines, moved to Terminal 3. Except for Spring Airlines, all other domestic airlines, including Air China, Hainan Airlines, and Shenzhen Airlines, which previously operated from Terminal 1, will continue to operate all domestic inbound and outbound flights from Terminal 1.

Currently, over 80 passenger and cargo airlines operate at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, forming a route network covering 105 major cities worldwide. It boasts over 146 international routes and nearly 30 intercontinental destinations, with nearly 70 of these destinations being major cities in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. The route network to Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas continues to expand, further stimulating two-way trade and tourism flows.

Since the beginning of this year, a series of events, including "Celebrate the Chinese New Year in Guangdong" and "Guangdong Goods Go Global," have been launched and are gaining momentum. Baiyun Airport's transportation operations have achieved a "flying start," with significant increases in passenger and cargo traffic. Passenger traffic has exceeded 250,000 on several days, demonstrating a strong market recovery. The full operation of the T3 international area is also a key step for Baiyun Airport in implementing its "high-level opening-up" strategy and enhancing its international aviation hub capabilities. From January 1st to 21st, 2026, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport handled a total of 33,105 flights and transported 5.007 million passengers, with an average daily volume of 1,576 flights and 238,000 passengers, representing year-on-year increases of 3.17% and 6.21%, respectively. As of January 19th, 2026, the number of inbound and outbound passengers at Baiyun Airport this year has exceeded 1 million, three days earlier than in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 20.5% and setting a new record for passenger traffic during the same period.

With the approach of the 2026 Spring Festival travel rush, Baiyun Airport is expected to experience another peak in inbound and outbound passenger traffic, with a single-day inbound and outbound passenger volume potentially reaching 58,000. With the full operation of the international area of Terminal 3, Baiyun Airport's international flight handling capacity will be further enhanced.
