With the first Spring Festival holiday after the Hainan Free Trade Port was officially closed, Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as Meilan Airport), under Hainan Holdings, is bustling with both passenger and cargo traffic, brimming with the festive atmosphere of the Spring Festival. In terms of passenger flow, on February 12, Meilan Airport saw over 110,000 passengers in a single day. Regarding cargo handling, on February 10, Meilan Airport's daily cargo and mail throughput climbed to 1,530 tons, with domestic outbound cargo and mail exceeding 828 tons, both setting new single-day records. It is estimated that during the nine-day Spring Festival holiday (February 15-23), Meilan Airport will handle 980,000 passengers, with the return travel peak expected on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year (February 23), when passenger traffic is expected to exceed 120,000.

Heartwarming Services: Diverse and Convenient Services Enhance the Travel Experience for Passengers

To provide passengers with a safe, convenient, and warm Spring Festival travel experience, Meilan Airport leverages the advantages of its "One Number, One Line, One Solution" platform (0898-966114) to fully implement the "Ten Heartwarming Service Measures for Spring Festival Travel" through online and offline collaboration. This includes regularly offering a variety of heartwarming services such as volunteer assistance and guidance, door-to-door service for elderly passengers, worry-free first-time travel, late-arrival concierge service, and heartwarming night flights, catering to the travel needs of different passenger groups.

In response to the increasing number of international and regional passengers, Meilan Airport has added 8 Wi-Fi kiosks, bringing the total to 12. Passengers can easily enjoy convenient and smooth free internet access. To cope with potential low-visibility weather conditions such as dense fog during the Spring Festival, Meilan Airport, in collaboration with the Hainan Air Traffic Management Bureau and airlines, has strengthened meteorological monitoring and early warning systems, promptly activated low-visibility operation procedures, actively coordinated with airlines to prioritize flights operated by crews qualified for low-visibility operations, and worked with airlines to adjust flight schedules to ensure maximum flight safety and punctuality.

Meanwhile, to allow passengers greater flexibility in adjusting their travel plans during the holiday and resolve itinerary change issues, Meilan Airport, in conjunction with Hainan Airlines and China Eastern Airlines, has launched the "Hainan Travel Pass" and "Hainan Regional Pass" products respectively. These products provide eligible passengers traveling to or from Hainan with one free change of departure or destination airport within the Hainan region. Stepping into the departure hall of Meilan Airport's Terminal 2, a striking green train-themed display immediately catches the eye. This is part of the "Summer in Nanyang: Qilou Fireworks and Food Market," a collaborative project between Meilan Airport and Yexilu Laoba Tea. Inside the T2 international departure hall, the "Hainan Shopping Spree" Spring Festival-themed market allows departing passengers to easily purchase souvenirs, food, and hot meals featuring Hainan's local cultural characteristics. To allow passengers to experience the rich Spring Festival atmosphere and Hainan's unique culture and folk customs, from February 12th to 24th, Meilan Airport, in partnership with China-Singapore (Hainan) Airport Commercial Management Co., Ltd., is continuously launching the "Explore Hainan Now, Shop for the New Year" themed cultural activities in the terminal, featuring traditional folk activities full of festive spirit, such as dragon and lion dances, handwritten Spring Festival couplets, "Fu" character rubbings, and clay crafts.

On February 14th, Meilan Airport partnered with Haikou Dongpo Old Wharf, the first immersive Dongpo cultural and lifestyle street in China, to jointly host non-player character (NPC) flash mob interactive performances and a Lunar New Year parade, adding unique fun to the waiting time. After shopping, passengers can also visit the Meilan Gift Shop in the T2 arrival hall to purchase cultural and creative products and island souvenirs that combine local Hainan characteristics with the creativity of the Hainan Free Trade Port, bringing home their own Hainan memories.


On February 12th, the Michelin-recommended restaurant "Longmian Guan" officially opened at the Meilan Outlet Mall opposite Meilan Airport T1. During the opening period (from now until February 18th), the restaurant is offering a 12% discount on all dishes, providing travelers with more diverse dining options. Meanwhile, Studio Pets, an international lifestyle brand originating from the Netherlands, Europe, officially opened its first store in China on February 13th in the northwest concourse of the departure hall of Meilan Airport T2 (next to Yanjiang Chicken Rice Restaurant). In addition, the CDF Haikou Meilan Airport Duty-Free Shop has completed a 3,722-square-meter store upgrade and renovation, and welcomed the opening of 27 new stores, including Burberry, Qeelin, Chow Tai Fook, COACH, Lao Miao, and Longchamp. The newly introduced brands cover a diverse range of categories, including accessible luxury leather goods, designer fragrances, high-end jewelry, trendy digital products, and health foods, aiming to meet the richer and higher-quality consumer demands after the border closure.

Friendly Reminder: Due to the large number of travelers during the Spring Festival, passengers without checked baggage can check in online in advance through their airline's official channels and proceed directly to security and boarding upon arrival at the airport.
