Indian airline IndiGo to launch premium business class

Civil Aviation Resource Network, May 27, 2024: According to Reuters, Interglobe Aviation, the parent company of India's IndiGo Airlines, said that the company will launch business class on some domestic flights in India this year, instead of only providing a single class. Flights with business class will be operational by the end of this year, the company said.
IndiGo said its business class product will "provide an ideal choice for many business people, perhaps flying business class for the first time in their lives".
IndiGo said the new class will be rolled out on its busiest routes and top business routes and will reveal more details in August.
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said that the new high-end products are another "cornerstone" for IndiGo following the purchase of A321XLR and A350 aircraft and internationalization.
Kapil Kaul of aviation consultancy CAPA India said IndiGo's move into business class was a "very important step" that would "reflect the needs of the Indian market" and change the airline's strategic direction.
