Civil Aviation Resource Network July 12, 2022 News: According to a report by Simple Flying on July 12, India’s IndiGo Airlines offered to increase their salaries in order to retain its flight attendants. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the wages of its maintenance staff have been reduced, and employees are severely dissatisfied, and there have been two large-scale strikes in July.
IndiGo Senior Vice President SC Gupta sent an email to the crew explaining how the Covid-19 pandemic has presented IndiGo with severe challenges over the past 30 months, but also acknowledged that staff wages have suffered severely during this time influences. “I understand some of your dissatisfaction with your salaries, and I know that for the past two years, we have not been able to pay your salaries at the normal level we used to be. This was also done in response to a massive strike by its cabin crew on July 2, which delayed half of IndiGo's flights that day. With the imminent arrival of new airlines and massive recruitment in the industry, IndiGo realized that it could not afford a massive staff turnover.
IndiGo plans to expand its capacity by 60% from last year and has made changes to its human resources policy to restore a working model for cabin crew, in which they are paid more but take less time off.
This is the second time the airline has announced salary adjustments this month. A few days ago, IndiGo announced that its pilots and cabin crew will receive an 8% pay rise.
