On April 19, 2026, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that, according to foreign media, the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority announced that international flights at Mashhad Airport in northeastern Iran would resume on Monday (April 20).

Iranian state television, citing the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority, stated, "Mashhad Airport has been approved to operate international passenger flights, starting tomorrow."

Iran's airports have been closed since the outbreak of war between Iran and Israel and the United States on February 28.

On April 18, local time, Iran announced that nationwide ticket sales would be suspended until airlines obtained the necessary permits from the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority. Airlines must apply for relevant permits for each flight, whether domestic or international. Ticket issuance is contingent upon approval from the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority.

Some websites showed tickets available for sale but were actually unavailable for purchase, preventing users from successfully placing orders.

Earlier on April 18, the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority announced the reopening of some airspace and six airports in Iran, with airlines preparing to resume domestic and international flights.

The six airports are Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, Mehrabad Airport, Mashhad Airport, Birjand Airport, Gorgan Airport, and Zahedan Airport. Iranian airlines can begin scheduling flights and selling tickets after obtaining the necessary permits and coordinating with the Iranian Civil Aviation Authority.
