On February 28, 2026, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that Bohai Leasing recently issued an announcement stating that on February 27, its subsidiary Avolon signed a "Master Sale and Purchase Agreement" and related ancillary agreements with China Southern Airlines. Avolon, through its subsidiary, will purchase 10 Boeing 787-8 aircraft and 2 GEnx-1B70 spare engines from China Southern Airlines.
The market value of the aforementioned aircraft and engine assets is approximately US$532 million, with the actual purchase price determined based on the bidding results at the property rights exchange.
The aircraft and engines are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026.
Bohai Leasing stated that this will help the company seize market opportunities, enhance its ability to provide diversified fleet solutions to airline customers, and further improve its market share and competitiveness in the global aircraft leasing industry.
In January, according to Thailand's *The Nation* newspaper, Thai Airways was in talks to lease 10 Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft to bolster its fleet.
The report stated that Thai Airways would lease 10 Boeing 787-8 aircraft, previously operated by China Southern Airlines, from Avolon. Thai Airways indicated that if the deal was finalized, it expected to begin receiving the aircraft between June and July of this year, adding them to its fleet in phases.
Previously, China Southern Airlines had listed 10 Boeing 787-8 aircraft and 2 spare engines for sale on the Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange.
