According to Xinjiang Airport Group, Urumqi Tianshan International Airport has achieved new successes with its smart apron technology. The airport's unmanned autonomous driving fleet has accumulated over 1.6 million kilometers of safe operation, achieving zero liability safety incidents and successfully setting a new record for large-scale autonomous driving operation at domestic civil aviation airports.
In recent years, Urumqi Tianshan International Airport has continuously promoted the digital and intelligent upgrade of its smart airport, building a leading and well-regulated unmanned apron operation fleet in China. Currently, all 52 unmanned baggage towing vehicles are fully deployed for large-scale frontline operations, handling over 90% of baggage and cargo transfer tasks for domestic and international flights. During peak flight periods, the daily peak handling volume can reach 800 towing vehicles, adapting to the demands of high-volume, high-intensity flight operations around the clock. This effectively addresses the shortcomings of traditional support methods and has become a core intelligent force for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the apron.
