Civil Aviation Resources Network, July 3, 2025: According to Reuters, KLM said on Wednesday (July 2) that it had made a wage proposal to employees. Earlier, the CNV union said that if its demands were not met, KLM ground staff at Amsterdam Airport would go on strike on July 9.
Schools will begin to close in some parts of the Netherlands next week, which means that the planned eight-hour strike will take place during a very busy period.
KLM said in a statement: "Today, KLM has made a specific wage proposal to all unions: a one-time bonus of 1,000 euros (about 1,178.60 US dollars) in 2025, and a structural salary increase of up to 2.5% based on the operating results in 2025 before July 2026. KLM believes that this proposal provides a good starting point for reaching an agreement with all unions. Wage negotiations will continue on July 10."
After the union mentioned the strike, but before announcing the wage proposal, KLM said it would consider asking the court to prohibit employees from striking, as it did last month.
The CNV union said it was confident the strike would not be banned because circumstances had changed following a court ruling in June that banned workers from striking over airport security concerns related to a NATO leaders' summit.
