According to CCTV News, a sightseeing helicopter crashed on a remote beach off the coast of Kauai, Hawaii, on March 26 local time, killing three people and injuring two.
The Kauai Fire Department stated that the helicopter crashed at approximately 5:00 PM on March 26 on Kalalao Beach, carrying one pilot and four passengers. The beach is located in the Napali Coast area on Kauai's north shore. The area is inaccessible except by hiking or boat.
Police stated that the accident resulted in three deaths, and two others were transported to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced on March 27 that it has launched an investigation into the crash of the MD-500 helicopter.
The FAA stated that a Hughes 500 helicopter crashed off the coast of Kauai at approximately 5 p.m. on March 26, with five people on board. The FAA and NTSB will investigate the accident, with the NTSB leading the investigation.
