Australian social media influencer Hugh Lovett has been banned from flying with Jetstar Airways and its parent company, Qantas, after he intentionally pulled the inflation cord on his life vest during the pre-flight safety demonstration. The incident took place on October 16, aboard a flight from Sydney to Adelaide.

Lovett is one of four brothers behind the Australian TikTok account "The Lovetts." On October 16, he was a passenger on Jetstar flight JQ768, traveling from Sydney Airport to Adelaide. During the pre-flight safety briefing-at the very moment the announcement explicitly instructed passengers that life vests should "only be inflated after leaving the aircraft"-Lovett deliberately pulled the inflation cord. The life vest immediately inflated with a distinct hissing sound. His brother, Blake Lovett, who was looking down at the safety instruction card at the time, covered his face in reaction to the incident.
