Civil Aviation Resources Network, February 19, 2025: According to CCTV News, on February 18, local time, Canadian investigators said that they found the black box from the passenger plane that had an overturned fuselage accident when landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport the day before, and the investigation is still ongoing.
On the afternoon of February 17, local time, a Delta Airlines passenger plane carrying 80 people had an accident when landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada, and the fuselage flipped and landed. So far, 21 people have been injured, 19 of whom have been discharged from the hospital, and the remaining 2 are not in danger of life. Investigators from the Canadian Transportation Safety Board are leading the investigation into the cause of the accident.
Investigators said that the CRJ-900 passenger plane hit the runway when landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, after which some parts fell off and then caught fire. At present, the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder have been sent to the laboratory for further analysis, and it is too early to determine the cause of the accident.
In addition, a team of more than 20 investigators will inspect the wreckage and runway. Representatives from Transport Canada, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, Delta Air Lines and the aircraft manufacturer are supporting the TSB's investigation. Flight delays and cancellations are expected in the coming days as both runways remain closed during the investigation.
