According to Bloomberg, Boeing expects to receive an order for 250 aircraft from Turkish Airlines next week. US President Trump will meet with the visiting Turkish president in Washington on September 25.
According to people familiar with the matter, Boeing has finalized the framework for a partnership with Turkish Airlines and may announce it during the Turkish president's state visit.
A Turkish Airlines spokesperson said, "We have been in discussions with Boeing for some time, but no final decision has been made."
The deal would be the culmination of years of negotiations between Boeing and Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines aims to nearly double its fleet size over the next decade and establish Istanbul as a global hub comparable to Dubai.
Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat has stated that the airline is in talks with Boeing to order approximately 250 aircraft in 2024, mostly 737 MAX aircraft, with an additional 75 787 Dreamliners.
