According to Reuters, a Boeing executive stated on February 4th that Boeing expects to begin delivering upgraded 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliners to airlines in the first half of this year, offering longer range or increased cargo capacity.

Darren Hulst, Vice President of Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, stated that the increased maximum takeoff weight of the Boeing 787 adds approximately 400 miles (643 kilometers) to its range, or allows for an additional 5 to 6 tons of cargo.

Hulst told reporters at the Singapore Airshow, "These aircraft are actually in final assembly and are moving through the certification process. We expect to begin deliveries in the first half of this year."

Hulst also indicated that Boeing expects the 777X to be certified in the second half of this year, but it may not enter commercial operation until next year.
