According to China News Service, Sinn Chanserey Vutha, spokesperson for the Cambodian State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, stated on October 31st that Air Cambodia will begin operating commercial flights using the domestically produced C909 passenger aircraft in 2026.

Vutha stated that on October 22nd, Mao Havanna, Minister of the Cambodian State Secretariat of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Air Cambodia, led a delegation to visit COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China). During the visit, Mao Havanna highly praised COMAC's achievements in the global civil aviation manufacturing field and expressed full confidence in the domestically produced Chinese passenger aircraft.

Vutha said that this visit yielded an important strategic result: Air Cambodia will introduce and put into operation the COMAC C909 passenger aircraft in the second half of 2026. This marks a significant step forward in the modernization of Air Cambodia's fleet and significantly enhances the international competitiveness of Cambodian civil aviation. COMAC will provide Cambodia with comprehensive service support based on international standards.

When interviewed by a reporter from China News Service, Air Cambodia stated that Mao Havanna's visit aimed to expedite the airworthiness certification of the C909 aircraft in Cambodia and to exchange technical details regarding its introduction.

On September 8th of this year, Air Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China) to purchase 20 C909 aircraft, including 10 firm orders and 10 letters of intent.

After the C909 aircraft enters service, Air Cambodia will focus on strengthening route connections between Cambodia and second- and third-tier cities in China, as well as other major destinations in Southeast Asia.
