Cathay Pacific announced on July 24 that, given the recent upward trend in aviation fuel prices, it will raise passenger fuel surcharges starting August 1. The fuel surcharge for long-haul flights will increase significantly to HK$1,362, a rise of 41%. This is the first time Cathay Pacific has raised these fees since April this year.

news-1-1Cathay Pacific noted that its fuel surcharge had been reduced several times since May of this year, coinciding with the decline in oil prices at the time. Cathay Pacific will continue to maintain its bi-weekly review of fuel surcharge levels to ensure that charges closely reflect actual market conditions.
